Hi, I’m Derek, the creative heart behind Derek J. Waksmunski Photography LLC. My passion for photography began with a deep connection to the natural world, shaped by my experiences as a biologist and marine conservationist.  

I grew up in the backwoods of rural Pennsylvania, where I developed an early appreciation for nature and simplicity. Over the years, my travels took me to breathtaking places like St. Lucia, Cancun Mexico, Bonaire, Australia, and beyond, shaping my perspective and inspiring my love for photography.

Eventually, I found my home in the vibrant landscapes of South Florida, where I’ve embraced the stunning beauty of the Florida Keys as my sanctuary. As a solo photographer, I take pride in offering a truly personal experience. I have experience as a Inactive Padi Divemaster and registered drone pilot under part 107 from the FAA. From the initial consultation to the final edit, I’m with you every step of the way. I aim to create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, allowing your authentic self to shine through. Whether I’m underwater exploring marine life or chasing the perfect golden hour light, capturing an engagement, or a milestone celebration, my goal is to create images or videos that tell authentic stories and preserve memories.
